Stimuli for the Community

Below, please find links to the stimuli we have used in some of our experiments. Each link is a .zip archive folder of the stimuli that can be unzipped using StuffIt Expander. We have provided these sets of stimuli to the academic community for use in non-profit research. Please cite the relevant papers for each stimuli set (listed below) if you use these stimuli in your own research. For comments and suggestions please contact Moshe Bar at bar@nmr.mgh.harvard.edu.

Curved and Sharp Objects

The stimuli (five types):

Sharp Objects. These are real objects with sharp contours.

Curved Objects. These are real objects with curved contours.

Control Objects. These are real objects with both sharp and curved contours.

Sharp Patterns. These are novel patterns we designed with sharp contours.

Curved Patterns. These are novel patterns we designed with curved contours.

Other than the difference in contour, the stimuli were equalized in other dimensions, as elaborated in Bar & Neta (2006).

Description:

The stimuli are isolated greyscale images on a neutral background. These stimuli were originally developed to test preference for curved visual objects.
